WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16, 2008
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16
Football Awards Dinner at 4 p.m. at Slickgraphix (1831 N 4th Street). Senior parents are providing the steaks. Families of freshmen are asked to bring a potato dish (scalloped, baked, etc.) and families of sophomores and juniors are asked to bring a salad or dessert. Drinks are provided but everyone needs to bring table service
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17 – BREAKFAST: French Toast Sticks, Sausage, Juice or Milk
Academic Code Ineligibility List is compiled. Ineligibility Letters will no longer be mailed to parents. Coaches will talk to their students that are on the list to arrange study halls. Parents are encouraged to use the PASS System to check on grades.
County Government Day – Please excuse the following students: Morgan O., Michaela H., Courtney R., Ben M., Tara M., Ashley J., Weston S., Hannah B., Danette M., Andrew M., Chelsea S., Casey H., Cody K., Justin K., Colleen P., Jon H., Jon P., Tyler P., Adam F.

Any student not out for a winter sport but wants to work out, meet in Mr. Willis’ room at 3:40 p.m.

One Act Practice – All cast at 8:00 p.m.
WED., NOVEMBER 19 – BREAKFAST: Cake Donuts, Juices or Milk
Dismiss at 1:30 p.m. for Teacher Inservice.
The Dana Rep will be here at 1:00 p.m.
Northwest Missouri State University Rep will be here @ 11:30 a.m.

One Act – Evening at the Thorpe beginning at 7 p.m. David City performs at 8 p.m. Makeup at the school at 6 p.m.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VOICE OF DEMOCRACY WINNERS: 1st Place – Ryan H.; 2nd Place – Cody K.; 3rd Place – Megan S. Ryan won $50 and will move on to compete at the District Contest. Congrats!
FCCLA MEETING ON MONDAY THE 17TH AT 7:00 P.M. We will be discussing what to do for our Christmas Party, other fundraiser options and STAR projects. Mrs. Zegers has several ideas & she would like to hear yours. As always there will be a fun activity happening after the business meeting.
WRESTLING SHIRTS ARE ON SALE NOW: Order forms are in the office w/ the prices listed.
THE DAVID CITY FFA is currently conducting our Nebraska Products Fundraiser through December 1st.
FFA ANNOUNCEMENTS: ***FFA members should be turning in their "blue" sales forms as you sell along with the money! Don't wait until the last minute. ***FFA district contests are quickly approaching! If you haven't come in to work on them, you need to! ***The next FFA Chapter meeting will be on November 24th @ 7pm.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY AMERICANISM YOUTH CONFERENCE at Freedoms Foundation March 5-8, 2009 in Valley Forge, PA. Applicants sponsored by the Auxiliary may also be eligible for a stipend up to $200 to offset travel expenses. You must be a student in good standing in grades 10, 11, or 12. Show demonstrated leadership potential through extra-curricular activities and community service. Application and essay should be submitted to the sponsoring Unit, Post or Squadron. This year’s topic is “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants – How American Veterans have shaped the World.” Word Limit: 500; Deadline: December 1, 2008; Notification of Status: January 14, 2009. See Mr. Willis for application details.
MILLION CAN CHALLENGE competition ends on November 23rd, when the winner will be announced.
**SENIORS ARE REMINDED THAT SENIOR PICTURES MUST BE TURNED INTO THE OFFICE AND TO MRS. DETMERby Thanksgiving in order to receive the yearbook discount. Please meet this deadline as soon as possible. (the one for the office is for the senior picture board to Betty)

NOV. 23: Volleyball Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. at the Elementary Multi-purpose Room. Senior parents will provide the meat. Families of juniors and freshmen are asked to bring a dessert and families of sophomores are asked to bring a salad or vegetable dish. Drinks are provided.
NOV. 24: FFA Meeting at 7 p.m.; One Act Practice – All cast from 8 to 10 p.m.
NOV. 25: Conference One Act @ Wilber - TBA; MS Wrestling @ Winside Invite- 3 p.m. Bus leaves at 1:00 p.m.; MS GBB @ cross County – 4:30 p.m. Bus leaves at 3:00 p.m.
NOV. 26: Dismiss at 1:30 p.m.; FFA at District Contest @ Leigh – Bus leaves at 7:30 a.m. & returns around 3:30 p.m.
NOV. 27: Happy Thanksgiving! No School.
NOV. 28: No School – Thanksgiving Break.
