Student Assistance Teams (SAT)
Purpose and Responsibilities
There will be an elementary and a secondary Student Assistance Team whose purpose will be to act upon referrals of students who are experiencing difficulties (academic, social, behavioral, emotional) in school. The Team will conference with all involved parties, meet to come up with possible solutions, oversee the implementation of the interventions, and then see that successful interventions are continued, try alternative interventions, refer the student for testing, and/or write and monitor 504 Plans.
Members
The SAT consists of the permanent members listed below. Teachers who have the student in class will receive notice as to when the Team will conference on the student. Those teachers will be considered to be part of the Team for that student and are expected to attend and participate in the meetings on that student. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the SAT meetings.
