English Language Learning Resources

FOUNDATION AND FRAMEWORKS:

Learn how to implement the Five Standards for Effective Teaching with ELL students.  Includes multimedia clips of the practices in action.

Find out about the country of origin of your ELL students in the CIA FactBook. (Limited usefulness)

TOOLS:

Vocabulary Quizzes at a variety of levels of difficulty. Can also write your own quiz.

Activities to practice English: stars indicate approximate difficulty level, although they can be adapted.

Well-planned lesson plans (most appear to be on concepts generally taught at the elementary level) include outstanding PDF sheets with thematic webs, vocabulary, etc., ready for student use. Site map for this site is easy to use and includes teaching ideas beyond the lesson plans listed above.

Listening Lab has a wide range of text, audio, pre-listening, listening, and post-listening activities for ELL students. (Activities would be useful for all students.)
