FFA Members do well at State Fair

by Jim Angell

September 04, 2007

Megan R., Austin and Tanner Z, Adam F., Tyler P., Kyle C., and Nathan K. all exhibited livestock during the Labor Day weekend in the FFA division of the Nebraska State Fair.

Megan exhibited a market heifer that finished second in the class and received a purple.  Megan said "the animal in first ended being the Grand Champion Market Heifer so it was fun".

Tyler P. exhibited the Reserve Champion Spotted market barrow in the swine division.  The other animals received one blue and two red ribbons.  Tyler also had one of his animals finish ninth in the swine carcass contest.  Adam F. received blue ribbons on both of his market swine.

Austin Z. exhibited two market lambs and finished fourth in both classes that he was in receiving blue ribbons.  The carcass came back with other results as one of Austin's lambs won the carcass contest for market lambs.  Tanner exhibited a market ewe lamb that was first in the class with a purple and a market wether that was fourth.  One of his lambs finished fifth in the carcass contest.

Kyle C. received three purple ribbons for his market lambs.  One lamb was fourth in the class and the other two each finished second in their class.  Kyle also won the out of school division in sheep showmanship.

Nathan K. had the light weight Champion market lamb.  Another lamb received a purple and the other two were blue ribbon animals.  His carcass contest lamb received a purple ribbon.

These seven FFA members did an excellent job of representing our school and livestock industry.  They should all be congratulated for a job well done.
