Sour Shooting Denies Lady Scouts a Victory

December 13, 2007
December 8, the Lady Scouts met the Lady Raiders of Wymore Southern and unfortunately came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard. The Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Scouts 52 to 40. The second half was fairly even with the Lady Raiders outscoring the Lady Scouts by only one point. The 8 of 37 shooting from the floor and 1of 3 shooting from the free throw line hurt the Lady Scouts in the first half of the game. Defense also became a factor in the first half, not covering positions well enough and giving up four 3-point shots. The second half was better on the defensive end which kept the Lady Scouts in the ball game, but the shooting just wasn’t there. The Lady Scouts finished the game with 10 of 29 shooting from the floor and 2 of 4 from the free throw line. The Lady Scouts finished the game 17 of 48 from 2pt range and 1 of 18 from 3pt range, for a total of 27% from the floor (18 of 66). Leading the way for the Lady Scouts was Hannah B. with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots. Sabrina M. contributed 5 points and 5 rebounds. The team posted 36 rebounds, 13 assists, 7 steals, 6 blocks, and 10 turnovers for the evening. Even though the Lady Scouts have opened their season with two losses, they are playing much improved over the last few years. Come out and check them out in the next week. The Lady Scouts will be in action again, December 14 against East Butler at home, then on the road at Lakeview on December 15, North Bend December 17, and Fillmore Central on December 20. They return to action after Christmas on Thursday, December 27 at 6:00 in the DCHS Holiday Tournament against North Bend.
