Awesome April News
April was a month full of adventure. We have done everything from write and present animal reports to reciting silly poems.. With the end of the school year fast approaching we will find even a bigger flurry of activities to complete. We are nearing the end of taking our “pink tests” (state assessments). This will bring a loud hooray from the 3rd grade room!
In Math we have moved on to fractions, back to multiplication, and back to fractions we will go. The multiplication Mad Minute scores keep getting better everyday. We are learning about equivalent fractions. Much of time was spent on fraction story problems.
In Reading we are still plugging away at words and stories. There has been a vast improvement in the speed at which the lists are getting mastered. The confidence level of the students has gone up with the new levels of Reading.
Simple Machines was the big unit of study in Science for April. We had a lot of fun with this unit. Everyone was able to construct a simple machine on their own for the assessment. Electricity is next on the agenda.
We have been studying laws and government in Social Studies.
The field trip is set for May 6, 2008. We will be touring several sites in Lincolnto go along with Nebraska History and our government.
Hopefully some sun and warm weather will arrive soon!
