Number Thirteen, Not So Unlucky for Lady Scouts
Lady Scouts Get First Taste of Victory

January 14, 2008
Whether it was the changing of spandex worn by a player, not washing a uniform from the night before, or just great defense with a good offensive effort to support it; the Lady Scouts got their first taste of victory Saturday, January 12 against Malcolm scoring 51 to their 31. The Malcolm Lady Clippers came into the ball game (7-3), losing their two previous games. The Lady Scouts played an even first quarter with the Lady Clippers, but took a three point lead in the second quarter to go into the locker room with the lead. The Lady Clippers were unable to make a shot from the floor in the third quarter and were only able to muster 2 points at the free throw line, while the Lady Scouts scored 10. The fourth quarter belonged to the Lady Scouts, who scored 22 to the Clipper’s 13. Scoring was across the board for the Lady Scouts. Hannah B. led scorers with 13, Nikki R. with 10, Rebecca H. with 9, Megan R. with 8, Sabrina M. and Morgan O. with 4 apiece; Miranda F. with 2, and Justine R. added 1. Rebecca H. led the team in rebounds with 7 and Hannah B. and Morgan O each added 6. The Lady Scouts were 16 of 32 from the floor for 50% (14 of 30 from 2pt range and 2 of 2 from 3pt range) and 17 of 22 from the free throw line for 77%.
The previous night, January 11, the Lady Scouts took on the Lady Cougars of Cross County (8-2). The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Scouts 25 to 42. Allison from Cross County dominated the game on both ends. The Lady Scouts were held to just two points in the second quarter. David City put up a good defensive effort, but Allison definitely puts up a challenge. Scoring became the problem for the Lady Scouts. David City was led by Megan R. with 6, while Morgan O. added 5, and Sabrina M., Hannah B., and Rebecca H. all contributed 4. Hannah B. led the team with 7 rebounds. The team was 12 of 38 from the floor for 31.6% and 1 of 9 for 11% from the free throw line. Cross County beat the Lady Scouts on the boards 25 to 21.
The varsity girls will be in action again at home on Tuesday, January 22 against Yutan. It is a girls only game with JV starting at 6:00 and varsity following.
