The David City Lady Scouts traveled to Wilber-Clatonia on Friday, February 8. The game was an exciting one with the Lady Scouts pulling out a 4 point win, 42 to 38, in overtime. The Lady Scouts, who scored 9, 8, 6, and 9 in the first four quarters, rallied to score 10 points in the four minute overtime. David City made the game more exciting than it had to be. The Lady Scouts shot 17 of 41 from the free throw line, 11 of 31 in regulation. Hannah B. led the team with 16 points, with 5 other players in the scoring column. Morgan O., who hit 4 of 6 free throws in overtime, scored 7; Megan R., Nikki R., and Rebecca H. scored 5; and Sabrina M. added 4. The Lady Scouts cleaned up the boards in comparison to the Lady Wolverines, pulling down 36. Hannah B. led rebounders with 11, Sabrina M. added 7, and Rebecca H. grabbed 6. The team shot 12 of 32 from the floor for 37.5%. The Scouts tallied 8 assists, 9 steals, 8 blocks, and 29 turnovers on the evening. The Lady Scouts played without one of their main subs Friday night, due to a knee injury to Miranda F.
Saturday, February 9, the Lady Scouts traveled to the home of the Lady Bulldogs of Osceola. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, but the weather did not cooperate. Not making excuses, but with one less substitute and less than 24-hours after their overtime win from the previous night, the Lady Scouts were not playing up to par. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Scouts 43 to 27. The Lady Bulldogs came out playing zone and the Lady Scouts were given numerous great shots from the outside, but were unable to find the bottom of the net. The shooting woes from the perimeter continued to plague the Lady Scouts for the remainder of the game. The Lady Scouts were led by Hannah B. with 11 points and Rebecca H. with 7. Hitting the boards for the Lady Scouts were Hannah B. with 11, Morgan O. with 9, and Sabrina M. with 5. The team shot 8 of 54 from the floor for 14.8% and 11 of 19 from the free throw line for 57.9%. The Scouts finished the game with 37 rebounds, 4 assists, 12 steals, 6 blocks, and 16 turnovers. The majority of the numbers were good, if only the shots would have fallen.
The Lady Scouts are in action again Monday, February 11, in the first round of sub-districts against Raymond Central at 6:30 at Seward High School. The winner of the first round game will take on Wahoo Neumann at 6:15 on Tuesday, February 12 at Seward High School.
