Lady Cavaliers Too Much for Lady Scouts

Slow Offensive First Half Sets Tone for the Game

by Tracy Behrns

February 13, 2008

The Lady Scouts fell to Wahoo Neumann (Ranked #3 in C-1) Tuesday night February 12.  The Lady Cavaliers outscored the Lady Scouts 64 to 27.  The Lady Scouts played a great first half defensively, but were unable to put things together offensively.  The Lady Cavaliers had a 27 to 6 lead going into halftime.  The Lady Scouts rebounded in the second half.  David City was able to put some points on the board and continued to play great defense on the other end.  The Lady Scouts were right there with them in the third quarter, only being outscored 17 to 13.  However, the Lady Cavaliers just had too much quickness and experience for the Lady Scouts to overcome.  The Scouts were led by Justine R. with 10 points.  Others contributing points on the offensive end were Hannah B. with 7, Sabrina M. with 6, and Rebecca H. and Megan R. with 2 apiece.  Leading the way in rebounding was Hannah B. with 8 and Justine R. with 6.  The Lady Scouts finished the evening 12 of 31 for 38.7% from the floor and 3 of 6 from the free throw line for 50%.  The Lady Cavalier’s quick hands and feet caused problems for the Lady Scouts, who had 32 turnovers.  The Scouts posted 23 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals, and 12 blocks for the evening.  The Lady Scouts played hard the entire game and showed great heart.  They should be proud of their effort against Neumann, who is state tournament quality.  Wahoo Neumann advances to sub-district finals against North Bend on Thursday, February 14 at 6:30 at Seward High School.
