Today's technicians need to understand how increasingly complex vehicles work. The must know how to identify problems and what to do about them. They operate sophisticated diagnostic equipment. For example, there is more computer power in today's vehicles than existed in the entire Apollo lunar landing space program.
On today's vehicles, computers control 80 to 90 percent of the systems. Furthermore, because skilled technicians are in such great demand, the job market is likely to remain strong for years to come.
