Jim Bathen, Principal
The 2007-2008 school year is quickly coming to a close. This year has gone somewhat slower for me. I don’t know why, but it has. Maybe it was the long cold winter, the days inside for the kids and the rain that has kept the children inside during April. It will not be long and the kids will be out in the community swimming, fishing, playing baseball, golfing and having fun in the sun. I hope everyone stays safe this summer.
There are a few dates that you may want to mark on your calendar if you haven’t already. I want to make sure that parents are aware of what is going on in May. The following are dates of activities for the remainder of the school year.
May 2nd- Hawaiian Day, students dress in Hawaiian clothes and eat hamburgers outside. Send a beach towel to sit on.
May 6th – Incoming Preschool Parent meeting in the elementary multipurpose room at 6:00p.m.
May 12th – Third grade field trip to Stuhr Museum
May 13th – Fourth grade field trip to NE Historical Society & Morrill Hall
May 15th – Fun Day at the city park, PARENTS WELCOME
May 16th – Last Day of School, 1:30dismissal
12:30 Grades 3-6 Honors assembly at the HS. PARENTS WELCOME
K-2, awards immediately following the honor’s assembly in the elementary classrooms
Teachers distribute report cards
Students may leave before 1:30if escorted by a parent / guardian
I want to take this opportunity to let parents / guardians know that the staff at the David City Elementary School appreciates the support you show our school and your children. If I need something I always know I can depend on someone to come through. The support you show by attending Parent Teacher Conferences and school functions is fabulous. Continue to stay involved in your child’s education and you can’t go wrong. Enjoy your children this summer. Class lists will be out some time in June.
On April 23,
David City Elementary participated in the Safe Walk/Ride to School.
173 students safely walked or rode their bikes to school that
day. This year the weather cooperated and we had a huge turn
out. Click the link for a few pictures.
