FFA Awards at Banquet

The annual FFA/FCCLA Banquet was held April 17, 2008 in the Elementary Multi-purpose area.  The banquet is held to honor students for their accomplishments and share fellowship with parents and members.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Andrew M. and Barb J. as they performed their presentations from state speech competition.  The entire group appreciated their efforts for a job well done.

Proficiency awards were presented to FFA members.  Megan R. received an award for placement in beef production.  Adam F. received the beef entrepreneur proficiency award.  Dana R. received the grain production proficiency award.  Tyler P. received the award in placement in Diversified Agricultural Production.  Shelby S. received proficiency awards in Fruit Production and also the area of Vegetable Production.

Dana R. received the 2008 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award.  This award is sponsored by Monsanto .  This award is for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural experience.  This is the 61st year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award has been existence. As the winner of the 2008 Award, Dana's name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed in the Ag room of High School.

The 2008-2009 FFA Officers were announced at the annual banquet.  President -Tyler P., Vice President - Nikki R., Secretary - Austin Z., Treasurer - Adam F., Reporter - Chris P., Sentinel - Travis T., Parliamentarian - Taylor N.  The newly elected officers are scheduled to attend C.O.L.T. Conference in late May.  C.O.L.T., which stands for Chapter Officer Leadership Training is a very important event for these FFA members.  During the time at this conference which is held in Aurora at the FFA Leadership Center much of the planning for the coming year is done.  Also the officers receive leadership training and specific training for their individual office.
