David City Elementary
Jim Bathen, Principal
My last day in the office on a regular basis is Friday, June 13th. Student classroom assignments should be arriving at your home by the end of June or sooner. If you do not receive a class assignment for your child you can call the school or email me at jbathen@esu7.org. I will be checking my email messages throughout the summer.
It will be important that parents read through the Student Handbook to check on changes that occurred, such as school lunch prices, 1:30 dismissals for inservices (calendar), the Discipline Model and the elementary Attendance Policy. It is important that you look over these changes so you are aware of what happens when your child reaches five, seven and ten days absent from school. The Discipline Model has had some steps changed in the ticket procedures and what happens after so many tickets. Please take the time to go over these specific areas thoroughly with your child.
There are still some reports cards in the office that need to be picked up by parents. Report cards were with held because of missing books, book fines, kindergarten snack fees, lunch account money and your child’s cumulative file not being complete because of missing items, such as a birth certificate or immunization records. My secretary and I want to try to get these matters attended to as soon as possible so your child can see his/her report card. Please call the school and leave a message (367-3779). My secretary has called many of the parents already and has had to leave messages. It would be greatly appreciated if issues could be taken care of right away. Please make contact with the school. Thanks for your immediate response in this matter.
I hope you are enjoying the time with your child(ren). The weather is warming up and kids are able to get outside to play. At this time the building is being cleaned and I am hoping that our new asphalt will be laid before school begins in the fall. Have a great summer.
