Low Scoring First Half Cost Lady Scouts Against Osceola

A Need for Four Quarters

February 9, 2009 paired the David City Lady Scouts and the Osceola Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Scouts got out to a slow start scoring only 10 points in the first half to Osceola's 31. David City then outscored Osceola 29 to 18 in the second half; only to fall short by 10 points losing the game 39 - 49. The Lady Scouts have struggled to put four quarters of basketball together this season and time is starting to run out. David City shot 17 of 52 from the floor for 32.7% and 5 of 11 from the free throw line for 45.5%. The Scouts were led by Hannah B. with 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting. Justine R. added 8 points, all in the second half. Hannah B. led rebounders with 10 and Jasmine C. added 7 of her own. David City pulled down 34 rebounds to Osceola's 19. Turnovers were down at 15, most of which came in the first half or more specifically the first quarter. The team had 11 assists, 6 steals, and 6 blocks on the evening. The Lady Scouts will be in action again on Friday, February 13 at home against the Wolverines of Wilber-Clatonia. The Lady Scouts will begin post-season play Monday, February 16 at Columbus High School against Columbus Lakeview at 7:00pm.
