PLAN Fact Sheet

A Quick Reference for Students and Parents

  •          The teachers, counselors, and administrators at your school want students  to succeed in whatever they do during and after high school.

  •        PLAN is given at your school to help students gauge their achievement and to give them the information they need for educational and career planning.

  •        PLAN is designed to benefit all students, whether they plan to enter the  workplace after high school, enter military service, go to college, seek  vocational training, or are still undecided about their future plans.

  •        As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a good predictor of performance on the ACT Assessment.

  •        Students may use a calculator on the mathematics test.

  •        PLAN includes:
              * academic tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science
              * a career interest inventory
              * a Student Information Section on student plans, needs, and goals

  •     Each student who participates in PLAN receives a Student Report that:
        * identifies academic strengths and weaknesses
        * helps students explore career interests
        * helps students focus on goals and preparation needed to achieve them

  •      Your guidance office can give you more information about PLAN, including:
              * test date:  Wednesday, October 7th
              * cost - no cost to students

              * how to register - all 10th graders are registered
              * a free copy of Why Take PLAN, which is also available in Spanish
