5th Grade at Bellwood ATTENDANCE CENTER
Miss Muller
As usual, the 5th grade has been very busy. During the last month, we have finished up many major units and have presented numerous projects. All the students have been working very hard, and deserve the upcoming break!
In Social Studies we finished our unit on Explorers. The students did a wonderful job presenting information to the class about their particular explorer. They created their own visual aids, and wrote wonderful stories describing their explorers journey. They will present their presentations to the fourth and sixth grade classrooms on Wednesday of this week. When we return from break, we will begin studying Colonial America, a topic that many of the students are interested in!
In Science, we have finished our unit on Weather and the Earth’s Atmosphere. The students are now creating their own weather maps and forecasts for different areas of the United States. When we return from break, we will begin our unit on Force and Motion.
In Language Arts, the students are working on their stories to be published. The students chose to write their stories as though they were an inanimate object. They are very creative and are turning out well. The students will work on illustrating their stories over break, so we can be ready to publish them when they return.
In 6th grade Social Studies, we have just finished studying World War I. This was a topic that interested many of the students. They created some excellent propaganda posters, which are on display in the 5th grade classroom. They are all very excited to move on to World War II, and this is a topic they have been waiting for all year!
With the nasty weather that is expected, I wish you and your families a safe and warm holiday season and a great start to your new year! Happy Holidays from the 5th grade!
