The first graders are busy in the last weeks of school. They are all finding out how much they have grown in their reading and math skills.
Earth Day was celebrated this month. The students learned how we should all take care of our earth to make it a better place to live.
A butterfly unit is being enjoyed by all the first graders. It is fun to watch the different stages of a caterpillar to a butter fly. We are anxiously waiting for them to hatch. A few days after they hatch we will release them outside.
The students visited the FFA Barnyard on May 3 at the high school. The children enjoyed seeing the different animals.
The FirstGrade will be visiting the Butler County Hospital in May to celebrate National Hospital Week. The students are learning the benefits of having such a good hospital in David City.
We finished our Spanish classes. Four of Miss Messerer's student's, Ryan H, Cierra S., Ashley B., and Marian M., came to teach Spanish words for numbers, colors, school supplies and animals. Thank-you to these students for your Spanish lessons. The students enjoyed the classes.
Books will continue to be sent home to read until the end of the school year. Keep reading this summer! Please try to get to the public library to check out books.
Thank-you again to the parents and volunteers who helped in First Grade throughout the year. It has been a successful year! We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.
