Bellwood 5th Grade News Miss Muller As always, the Bellwood fifth graders have been very busy! The students have been working very hard, and it has shown in their work! We have been working with the 5th grade classrooms in David City on our pen pals project. We are e-mailing friends from Florida, New Mexico, and New York. Our 3 classrooms are split so that each room is e-mailing students from each region. These are the regions we have been studying in social studies. The students have researched their region, and are in the process of presenting the PowerPoint Presentations that students have created. They have done a great job, and really enjoy working with the computers. Their projects have turned out beautifully! The students are already excited about their next presentation! In science, we are studying weather. This is a concept that most students really enjoy, because it affects them each and every day. We have been working on recording different types of weather and identifying the factors that cause different weather conditions. We will use our observations and information to build weather instruments and predict what the weather will be like in the future. The students have finished writing their mystery stories, and they kept me on the edge of my seat! There are some very creative writers in this group of students! We are now studying historical fiction, and the students are beginning their projects. Some of the students will begin creating projects using Movie Maker next week. It may take them a while to finish, but look for them in the months to come. I am excited to see what they come up with! I want to remind parents that I send home a newsletter every Monday.
