District 5 FCCLA

Eleven FCCLA members from David City Public Schools recently participated in the Nebraska Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America District 5 STAR Event Competition. This annual event was held at Humphrey Public  Schools and featured over 175 competitors from the area.

STAR Events are Students Taking Action with Recognition. STAR Events recognize members for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through cooperative, individualized, and competitive activities. District 5 hosted 26 events during the conference.

Students are evaluated by judges using a rubric system and have the opportunity to earn a Gold, Silver, or Bronze rating. The top two finishers in each event level, who earn a Silver or Gold rating, qualify to compete at the state competition, which will be hosted as part of the State Leadership Conference. Students from David City received the following ratings in their respective categories:

Valori Olson- Repurpose and Redesign- Level 3 – State Qualifier- 2nd place Gold.  

Reese Soukup- Chapter Service Display- Level 3- State Qualifier- 1st place Silver.  

Autumn Lindsley- Interior Design- Level 3- State Qualifier- 1st place Gold.  

Ava Neujahr and KD Hansen- Chapter in Review Portfolio- Level 3- State Qualifier- 1st place Gold.  

Kaitlyn Palik and Chloe Zegers- Event Management- Level 3 3rd place Gold.   

Ellie Bales- Promote and Publicize FCCLA- Level 1- State Qualifier-  1st place Gold.  

Abby Lindsley- Sports Nutrition- Level 1- State Qualifier- 1st place Gold.  

Jacob Lange- Career Investigation- Level 1- State Qualifier- 1st place Silver.
